You may notice that updates to recommendations or pagelets are not going through after Hazelcast services were down and you killed the Hazelcast process and started it back. At the same time, articles updates go through fine.
The issue when recommendations are not publishing may occur due to high server load, which may be caused by the KSM process taking up an excessive amount of CPU resources.
When you experience a Hazelcast outage (or an outage for another service), you need to restart all Knova services either automatically or manually (including Tomcat) as described in the article Starting and Stopping Knova Services.
