Overview
Although the logs generated by the Submitter service are updating, the service stops intermittently and needs to be restarted. There are error events for the source SubmitterSIC_Prod with the error message "The Java Virtual Machine has exited with a code of -1, the service is being stopped" found by navigating to Event Viewer (Local) > Windows Logs > Application in the Windows Event Viewer.
Solution
This issue of the Submitter service quitting periodically might be a system issue. We advise consulting with your systems team regarding the problem.
As a workaround, you can schedule the recovery modes to restart the service after failure as shown below to ensure that the service doesn’t need to be manually restarted after it fails. To configure the recovery mode for your submitter service, you will need to do the following:
- Click on the Window Start button, type in Services and click on the Services Desktop App.
- Find the Submitter service and double click on it to open the Submitter service's properties dialog box.
- Click on the Recovery tab.
- Set the First failure, Second failure and Subsequent failures dropdowns to Restart the Service and click the OK button.
