Creating a ConfigMgr Package for the Surveyor Windows Client Agent Installation

Overview

This article provides the steps required to create a ConfigMgr package for the Surveyor Windows client agent installation through the Configuration Manager

Process

  1. From the Surveyor distribution, copy the Windows Client Agent folder to a Configuration Manager site server or a shared network folder.
  2. Open the Configuration Manager console.
  3. Navigate to Site Database > Computer Management > Software Distribution > Packages.
  4. Right-click on Packages and select New > Package.
  5. Follow the instructions in the New Package Wizard:

    1. In the General page, enter a name for the package, and complete any additional fields as you see fit.
    2. In the Data Source page, select 'This package contains source files,' and click Set. In the Set Source Directory dialog box, under 'Source directory location,' click the type of connection, enter the source directory, and click OK.
    3. In the Distribution Settings page, for Sending Priority, select High.

  6. When you complete the remaining wizard steps, click Close. The package appears under the Packages node of the site tree in the Configuration Manager console.
  7. Expand the package, right-click on Distribution Points, and select New Distribution Points.
  8. Select the check box next to the name of each server you want to make distribution points, and click Next. The wizard creates the distribution points and completes.
  9. Click Close to return to the site tree.
  10. Right-click Programs, choose New/Program, and follow the instructions in the New Program wizard, noting the following specific setting for this program:

    • In the General page, for Command Line, enter the command with the parameters
you want to install the client agent.
    • Install or uninstall Surveyor 6 Windows client agent from the command line.

  11. After creating the package, selecting distribution points, and creating the program to run
the package, set up an advertisement to distribute it.
