C: Drive filled with logs risking an EPM server crash

Overview

You may have faced an issue where your C: drive was filled with logs, impacting storage and risking an EPM Server Crash. This article provides information on how you can restrict the storage usage by logs and/or automatically delete them.

Information

You can manage the storage space that is occupied by the logs so that your C: drive will not be filled with logs. SharePoint Central Administration allows configuration of log file size and days to keep.

Depending on your SharePoint version, the path would be similar to: Central Administration > Monitoring > Reporting > Configure diagnostic logging > Trace Log. From this section, you can modify the following fields:

  • Number of days to store log files
  • Restrict Trace Log disk space usage

This will ensure that your C: drive is not filled with logs, impacting the operations of the EPM server.
