Error in Reports when emailing a document

Overview

One user is getting an error when they try to email a Purchase Order. Everest can't find the attachment that it just created. The export path is set up correctly and it is accessible. The user uses Outlook, not Everest as his email client.

The error details are:

Error Number : 588
Error Message : Error:544 Error in File C:\ProgramData\Everest\Temp\Mul895A.tmp: Access to report file denied. Another program may be using it.

Solution

The issue may come from an incompatibility with the Outlook version 2019. Downgrade to a supported version to resolve the issue:

  1. Ensure that a working print driver is selected. This can be done by simply printing out any document from other applications like MS Word.
  2. In Outlook, disable Office updates by navigating to File > Office Account > Update Options > Disable Updates.
  3. Open an elevated command prompt:
    1. Go to Start and type cmd.
    2. Right-click on the Command Prompt.
    3. Choose Run as administrator
    4. Provide your administrator credentials or click Confirm when the User Account Control dialog appears.
  4. Type in cd %programfiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun\
  5. You can specify the built number to return to in the following way:
    For Office 2013 Standard, use: OfficeC2RClient.exe /update user updatetoversion=15.0.5311.1000
  6. After pressing ENTER a Checking for updates dialog opens shortly followed by a Downloading Office updates dialog. Once this dialog closes, the rollback has been completed.

Testing

After downgrading to a supported version, Everest will successfully email documents. If the issue persists, please contact support.
