Error: 'Invalid Account' While Using the Chute Plugin

Overview 

At times, you may receive the error Invalid Account when trying to use the Chute Plugin to send or post the Rights Request offer.

This article explains how to troubleshoot the Invalid Account error that is occasionally experienced with Chute's browser plugin. 

 


Root Cause

The root cause of the Invalid Account error is a broken link on the social media account used for requesting rights.

To resolve this issue, you need to unlink the Instagram account used for Rights Request and re-link it.

 


Process

  1. Log in to Chute and access the relevant campaign.

  2. Click the Settings tab.

  3. Click Shared Accounts on the left panel.

  4. Click the Unlink button on the linked account that you want to remove.

  5. To re-link the account, click the Link Account button.

  6. Click Instagram from the list of social media accounts.

    Note: If you have logged in to your Instagram account on the same computer, Chute will automatically recognize the account and display it on this window.
    • If this is the case, proceed to Step 8.
    • If not, then proceed to the next step.
  7. Enter your username and password on the authentication window and click Log In.

  8. Select the account you want to link by putting a checkmark and click Confirm.

  9. If you receive a prompt to authorize access during the configuration process, click Authorize.

  10. Try sending a Rights Request using the plugin to test.
