Chute Workflow Guide

Overview

This article provides information about the components of a Chute Workflow.

 


Information

A Chute Workflow is a set of rules created to import contents from social media sites with certain hashtags or conditions. These contents are filtered and sorted based on the rules you define in the Workflow.

There are a variety of different ways to set up your Chute Workflow, depending on the type of campaign or content you are looking to pull in. The Workflow Guide image below is a basic example of how a Chute campaign looks.

The Workflow also allows you to request rights for assets you wish to use for your marketing campaigns and advertisements.

Workflow Input

Every Workflow has to start with input. There are three types of Workflow inputs:

  • Album
    • The Album input allows the set up of a Workflow that starts with assets that are saved from a pre-existing album.
    • All storage containers within Chute are albums. Depending upon the configuration and setup, the role of these storage containers changes, but the idea or concept remains the same.

  • Subscription
    • A subscription allows you to set up a time-based campaign to pull assets using the following three methods:
  • Media Chooser
    • The Media Chooser is a component of a Chute Workflow which allows a user to upload assets (photos/videos) using a Media Picker, with the following options:
      • Upload from file
      • Facebook
      • Instagram
      • Flickr
      • Skydrive
      • Youtube

 

Other Components of a Workflow

  • Auto Filter: A typical Workflow includes an Auto Filter, which acts as an extra computerized level of moderation. It is recommended to add it in the beginning as once you have finished creating a Workflow, changes such as deleting or modifying a step will delete all the steps that follow it. The Auto Filter does not have to be populated right away. You can add it in your Workflow and edit it later on. Most of our clients use it as a way to block spammers or profanity. Adding an auto filter requires you to create the following two paths:

    • Accepted Assets Path: It is usually the next step of the Workflow and can be a Sorter, a Moderation, or an Album.

    • Rejected Assets Path: It is usually just an album that stores all filtered and rejected assets.

  • Moderation: A step in a Chute Workflow which allows you to approve or deny assets manually. Assets go into the Moderation step after they pass through the Auto Filter. You are only able to say yes or no in this step which means you can either move the asset to the next step or put it in the archive album.

  • Sorter: This step works just like the Moderation step except that it allows you to move assets into different albums manually.

  • Request Rights: This step usually comes after Moderation or Sorter step. This is the step to gain permissions from the users. In this step, you may also do moderation by moving assets from your flow to an archive album. You can think of the archive album as a trash bin from where you can retrieve the assets if you end up needing them.

  • Endpoint Album: All assets that get an approval in the Rights request step will automatically move into this album. The assets in this album can be then used for Displays, Social Media ads, Marketing Campaigns, etc.
Note! You can add multiple Auto Filters, Moderation, and Sorter steps within a Workflow.
