When uploading images or assets through the Media Chooser upload tool, the name may appear as anonymous instead of the actual name of the uploader. This article provides the steps to resolve this issue.
When configuring a Media Chooser Workflow, you need to specify a field in the User Profile step where the uploader can enter their name. This data also needs to be shown as "public" to display the information. If this is not done and the option to show the information as "public" is not checked, then the username on the asset will show as anonymous.
One thing to note about the Media Chooser uploader is that the Name field only recognizes the English words "name," "first name," and "last name." It cannot recognize other words or even other languages. Let us say you use the word "nom" (the French word for 'name'), the user's name will still appear as anonymous.
In case you want to use other languages in your Media Chooser uploader, the workaround is to use the Help Text field. This is where you can enter a word or phrase (in your desired language) to specify the data you are asking for from the uploader.
Log in to Chute and access the relevant campaign.
Select the Workflow where the Media Chooser is attached and click Edit Chute.
Click the Media Chooser step to edit it.
Click Save on the pop-up to continue editing.
Click User Profile.
In the Options tab, make sure Data in this step is public is checked.
Click the Add row link to add a row for the name.
In the Name column, enter the word
Nameand select Text for the Type field. You can also use
Last Namein two separate rows if you wish to ask for these specifically.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not set the name to Private. This box should be unchecked.
Click Save on the User Profile window.
Click Save on the Media Chooser configuration window.
Click Save on the upper-right hand corner to apply the Workflow changes.
Uploaded assets through Media Chooser should now display the user's name instead of anonymous.
